Active Power Oscillation Suppression Based on Adaptive Control of Inertia and Damping for Multi-VSGs Grid-Connected Systems

Virtual synchronous generators (VSG) have active power oscillation problem due to introducing the swing equation to simulating synchronous generator (SG), especially in multi-VSGs grid-connected system. A $P/\omega$ “admittance” model is established to analyze the mechanism of active power oscillation in multi-VSGs grid-connected systems, and an adaptive inertia and damping control policy is presented to suppress active power oscillation when the disturbance of active power command in this paper. The active power differential and angular acceleration are considered to realize the adaptive adjustment of inertia and damping, which can make the angular frequency difference between VSGs approach to zero more quickly, reduce overshoot in the process of active power transient and improve the stability of the system. Simulation results are finally provided to confirm the feasibility of the proposed control strategy.
