A Power Conditioning Unit with Self-Recovery Function

This paper introduces a power conditioning unit (PCU) using on satellite, it has the function of coordinating the work between Solar-cell Array (SA) and Lithium-ion Battery pack (Li-BAT), it can distribute the energy generated by the SA, control the charge and discharge of the Li-BAT and execution of related protection strategies, maintain the stable output of the power bus to satisfy the load power supply requirements of the satellite. The PCU provides two power supply buses, they are the 30V low-voltage bus and the 64V high-voltage bus, the output capacity of the 30V bus is not less than 2160W, and the 64V bus is not less than 10800W. The PCU has the function of telemetry data acquisition, remote command execution, bus communication, etc. In addition, when abnormal power failure occurs on the 30V bus, the control circuit of PCU can still work properly because it powered directly by the Li-BAT. Based on this feature, if the 30V platform occurs unexpected malfunction, the PCU can self-recovery when the malfunction vanishing.
