Solar-Powered EV Charging Station with Battery Energy Storage System Integration

This paper proposes the design and implementation of a solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station integrated with a battery energy storage system (BESS). The proposed system aims to provide sustainable and reliable charging infrastructure for EVs while minimizing grid dependency and reducing carbon emissions. The design includes solar photovoltaic (PV) panels for renewable energy generation, battery storage for energy buffering, and EV charging stations equipped with bidirectional DC-DC converters, boost converters, a PWM rectifier, and a multilevel/conventional inverter. The paper outlines the technical specifications, system architecture, and operational performance of the proposed integrated charging station. Furthermore, a feasibility analysis and economic evaluation are conducted to assess the viability and cost-effectiveness of the presented solution. The results demonstrate the potential of solar-powered EV charging stations with BESS integration to contribute to the transition toward clean and sustainable transportation systems.
