Improvement of Germination and Seedling Growth of Durum Wheat Seed Using Surface Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma

In this work, the effect of treating durum wheat with cold plasma created in air at atmospheric pressure without any other gases was investigated. The plasma was created in a Plexiglas chamber using a surface DBD (SDBD) reactor with a hexagonal pattern and a homemade generator providing a pseudo-sinusoidal signal of 9.5kV with a frequency of 2.75 kHz and a duty cycle of 49%. The results obtained showed that the treatment of durum wheat seeds by this device using only air caused improvements both in the germination of the seeds and in the growth of the plants.
