Stimulated Raman Scattering in Silica Tapered Nanofibers Within Nonlinear Liquid Environments

Optical nanofibers have emerged as versatile devices for exploring nonlinear optical processes, thanks to their robust evanescent fields and light-confining capabilities. This study investigates evanescent stimulated Raman scattering in a silica optical nanofiber submerged in various mixtures of nonlinear liquids at a wavelength of 1064 nm. To illustrate the impact of nonlinear liquid composition on scattering properties, we analyze factors such as the liquid's refractive index, Raman gain coefficient, and volume ratio for a Raman-active liquid, which is Benzene mixed with Cyclohexane or Perfluorohexane. Employing numerical modeling to examine the interaction between guided modes transmitted through the optical nanofiber and the surrounding nonlinear liquid, we estimate optimal Raman liquid volume fractions and nanofiber radii to maximize modal Raman gain. The potential applications of stimulated Raman scattering in optical nanofibers include telecommunications, wavelength conversion, optical sensing, and signal amplification.
