ASSCM: An Asymmetric Segmented Smoothing Control Method for Cigarette Weight Control System

To address the issue of uneven tobacco density on the cigarette rod leading to control imbalance and significant errors in weight, an enhanced method for controlling cigarette weight is proposed based on the asymmetric segmented control approach. A segmented transformation coefficient has been developed to account for the uneven distribution of tobacco density in cigarettes. This coefficient considers the higher density of tobacco on the upper side of the cigarette rod and the lower density on the lower side. As a result, an asymmetric segmented control method has been established for both positive and negative deviations in cigarette weight. Furthermore, a smoothing optimization is applied near the deviation threshold for the segmented transformation coefficients, further enhancing cigarette weight control accuracy. Subsequently, the control algorithm of the weight control system is field-tested and validated at the tobacco industry production site. The results indicate that this technology is effective in reducing the fluctuations in cigarette physical indicators.
