Smart Water Quality Monitoring and Management System

In recent times, water pollution is one of the biggest challenge in the world. Drinking water is becoming spoiled and polluted. Additionally, storage of water is essential to water management because it guarantees a steady supply of water for a variety of purposes and acts as a backup during periods of scarcity. This paper discusses how to use water effectively that promotes sustainability, sufficiency, and efficiency by incorporating cutting-edge technologies including information systems, data collecting, sensors, smart water meters, and decision support systems. This solution is provided with the application of IoT technology. Smart water quality monitoring and management system uses smart water quality sensor technology to measure water parameters such as temperature, dissolved oxygen levels, presence of suspended solids, RFID reader, GSM module. A water level monitoring system may automatically determine the liquid level in tanks or storage containers of various sizes. This ensures that their water is nutrient-rich and safe for human consumption, even in remote areas. Furthermore, saves power by knowing how much water flow is needed for a specific distribution line.The proposed system offers several advantages, including real-time water monitoring, efficient water management, secure access control, automatic alerts for low water levels and water impurities, and location tracking for improved maintenance. The system utilizes various components such as an ultrasonic sensor, pH sensor, RFID reader, keypad, relay, solenoid valve, GSM module, GPS module, and LCD. The GSM module is used to send alert messages to the appropriate authorities or a designated corporation responsible for water supply. The GSM module also enables communication with the tank’s location information, obtained through a GPS module, facilitating efficient water management and maintenance. The existing system depends on manual water quality and level monitoring, which can be laborious and prone to human mistake. The integration of advanced technologies within this water management system is being undertaken to present a comprehensive solution aimed at optimizing water usage and enhancing efficiency. The prototype of this system is successfully implemented and tested.
