Integrating Wind Energy Systems In Fishing Boats

The integration of innovative turbine technologies into electric boats significantly enhances sustainability and energy efficiency. This study presents a dual-turbine approach employing a vertical axis turbine and a Savonius turbine to harness wind and propeller-induced turbulent energy, respectively. The vertical axis turbine, combining Darrieus and Savonius blades, is strategically mounted to capture wind energy from all directions, even at low speeds. Concurrently, a Savonius turbine positioned behind the boat’s propeller converts the propeller’s rotational energy into additional mechanical energy. Both turbines generate electrical energy stored in the boat’s battery system, supplementing the primary power supply and reducing reliance on traditional diesel engines. This dual-turbine system maximizes energy recovery, providing a renewable and sustainable energy source that enhances the vessel’s overall operational efficiency.
