Cogging Torque Reduction Strategies in Six-Phase BLDC Motors: Skewing and Back EMF Tuning for EV Applications

In the context of electric propulsion, BLDC motors play a pivotal role in elevating performance and efficiency, addressing the evolving needs of various applications. Multi-phase BLDC motors design gaining prominence due to their ability to enhance power delivery, torque capabilities, and overall motor performance. By utilizing multiple phases, these motors offer smoother torque generation, reduced torque ripple, and improved efficiency, making them ideal for diverse and dynamic electric power applications. Using Simcenter Motor Solve software 6-phase BLDC motor is designed and performance curves of Cogging torque, Back emf and Torque is analysed by varying the skewing angle.
