The Effect of E-Leadership and Innovative Work Behavior on Employee Performance: The Mediating Role of Technology Adoption

The flow of change in information technology is developing very quickly. These changes have a significant impact on employee work behaviour in the organization. Human resources must increase their competence and adapt to technological advances. Technology adaptation must be done so the organization is not destroyed by technology itself. The Surabaya City Population and Civil Registration Service implements Electronic Government. The implementation of e-government was realized by creating the Klampid New Generation application, which aims to make it easier for the public to manage the registration of marriages, births, deaths, movements and arrivals. The implementation of the technology application process is greatly influenced by the e-leadership leadership style, namely, someone who carries out their leadership functions through technology. Leaders and employees are also required to adapt to technological advances because the rapidly changing work environment and intense competition increasingly place demands on how employees work. Technology adoption will influence employees' ability to generate new ideas, encouraging innovative work behaviour and improving organizational performance. This research analyzes the influence of e-leadership and innovative work behaviour on employee performance through adaptive technology as mediating variables. A total of 200 employees tasked with providing Population and Civil Registration data for the City of Surabaya were respondents. This research is explanatory, and The data collected was processed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis technique. This research hypothesizes that e-leadership and innovative work behaviour significantly influence the application of technology. E-leadership and innovative work behaviour influence employee performance. This research also emphasizes that adopting technology influences employee performance and mediates the relationship between e-leadership, innovative work behaviour, and employee performance.
