Enhancing Educational Games: Addressing Design Challenges and Improving Effectiveness

As technology advances, educational games have emerged as an interactive and effective learning tool, combining entertainment and education to enhance student engagement. However, challenges such as complex user interfaces, excessive cognitive load, and low student motivation limit the full potential of these games. This study addresses these issues by proposing targeted solutions to simplify interface design, manage cognitive load, and improve student engagement. Through a comprehensive literature review, the research explores integrating Gestalt principles in the UX design of educational games to support effective learning. By examining academic sources, books, and web articles, the study highlights how design principles like proximity, similarity, and closure can enhance user experience and emotional engagement. The findings provide valuable insights into improving educational games' usability and emotional impact through effective UX design, ultimately contributing to deeper, more meaningful learning experiences. This research offers practical guidance for educators and developers aiming to optimize educational games, making them more effective tools for fostering engagement and enhancing learning outcomes.
