A Study of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan: an Initiative to Enrich Digital Education in Rural Area of Jalgaon District Maharashtra

The digitization of education stands as an indispensable instrument for nations dedicated to the attainment of education that is both of high quality and inclusively accessible. This research delves into the critical assessment of the efficacy of digital initiatives seamlessly integrated into the "Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan," a universal scheme unveiled by the Government of India and the Ministry of Human Resource Development on May 24, 2018. Focusing on the Jalgaon district in Maharashtra, the study meticulously scrutinizes the execution and outcomes of this pioneering initiative, offering insights into the challenges encountered and the level of cognizance among educators concerning digitalization. Employing a framework of descriptive analysis, data were meticulously amassed from 50 educators in secondary and senior secondary government schools spanning across five blocks in Jalgaon. The revelations emanating from the study affirm the commendable progress achieved by the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan in realising its digitalization objectives within the district. Nonetheless, the research discerns several impediments, including subpar internet connectivity, inadequacies in teaching materials, a dearth of technical support for educators, and deficiencies in the physical infrastructure of classrooms, encompassing limited dimensions and insufficient furnishings. In the face of these challenges, the study accentuates the pivotal role undertaken by the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan in augmenting digital education in the region. The research culminates with the presentation of a cogent framework, proposing strategies to mitigate the identified constraints and further enhance the implementation of this groundbreaking initiative.
