Attendance System using Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology and Cloud-Based Services in Higher Education

Monitoring student attendance is crucial for academic institutions to ensure students' active participation and compliance with academic requirements. This paper addresses the need for improved attendance management by proposing an integrated and automated system. The goal is to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of student attendance recording in higher education using RFID technology, Microsoft Power Platforms, and Microsoft SharePoint Lists for data storage. Survey results indicate a strong preference among respondents for a more automated and efficient attendance system, such as one based on RFID. In conclusion, implementing an integrated and automated attendance management system using RFID technology, Microsoft Power Apps, and Power Automate is expected to significantly improve the efficiency, accuracy, and usability of student attendance processes in higher education.
