Decentralised Planning of Production Operations

This paper presents a distributed manufacturing operations management method in which the entities involved in manufacturing are divided into Product Agents and Resource Agents. The Product Agent represents the product to be manufactured, while the Resource Agent represents the manufacturing, transportation or storage unit. This way of implementing manufacturing operations is one of the key elements of the Industry 4.0 vision.
