A Novel Voltage Stabilization Strategy Based on Hierarchical Distributed Control for LVDC Power Supply System

Compared to traditional alternating current (AC) power supply system, the low-voltage direct current (LVDC) system shows great superiority in simpler structure, lower power loss, and better compatibility with distributed generation. However, source and load fluctuations may cause system unstable. The DC-bus voltage stabilization is the key challenge in realizing DC system stability. Therefore, a voltage stabilization strategy can be designed for the existing hybrid energy storage system (HESS) composed of supercapacitor and battery, which is a promising solution for power balance. In this paper, a novel voltage stabilization strategy based on hierarchical distributed control for the LVDC supply system is proposed, which can allocate the power fluctuation to HESS without communication, recover the DC-bus voltage to rated value accurately, and achieve energy management in the LVDC system. Simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the control strategy.
