Mathematical Modeling of Hybrid Switching Devices for Investigation of Different Function Principles

A suitable simulation model is required for the simulative investigation of the function principles (arc-operated, arc-reduced, arc-free) of the hybrid switch in order to adequately describe the function and interaction of the three subsystems in the hybrid switch. Therefor the three subsystems are modeled with focus on the arc modeling. This modeling is adapted according to the above-mentioned functional principles in order to be able to simulate them. The models are then implemented in MATLAB Simulink in order to carry out a comparison between the different modeling approaches. In addition, the results (commutation times and energies) obtained in this way are compared with experimental results. Finally, the most important findings are summarized and an outlook on future research questions is given.
