Distribution Substation Risk Assessment Under Rainfall Flood Based on HEC-RAS

In recent years, rainfall flood disasters have occurred frequently, which bring great threats to the power system, especially distribution substations, causing widespread outages. It is crucial to effectively assess the distribution risk under rainfall flood disasters. Nonetheless, many studies nowadays are aimed at repair work after rainfall flood, and few studies have conducted flood risk assessments of pre-disaster distribution substations. To address this gap, this article proposes a model-driven rainfall flood risk assessment method for distribution substations. Firstly, the flood evolution model HEC-RAS is used to establish a flood model for the 100-year rainfall in the study area. Then the flood risk map and flood depth of the study area are obtained through model simulation calculations. Afterwards, the distribution substations contained in the area are visualized with the flood inundation by Arc-GIS. Finally, the risk of the distribution substation is assessed by combining the flooding vulnerability curve of the distribution substation, which provides a scientific basis for the pre-disaster rainfall flood emergency command decision of the distribution substation.
