Integrated IoT-Edge Measurement Station for Wind and Current Parameters Estimation and Presentation

In sea transport, entrance acceptance criteria are often related to certain hydrometeorological parameters. Since many factors are important to the safety of navigation, two are crucial and have the largest impact on the maneuvering, i.e., wind and current/stream parameters (speed and direction). In many cases, these measurements must be performed in real time, and the harbor masters make decisions based on this data. The article presents the latest combination of IoT sensors for current and wind parameters with on-site Edge computing for seaport Swinoujscie, located at the Swina River estuary.
