Calculation of Performance Parameters of Permanent Magnet Motor Based on Reluctance Network Analysis

In this paper, a method for calculating the performance parameters of a surface-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous motor (SPM) based on the equivalent reluctance network model of the motor is proposed, which can quickly and accurately calculate the flux linkage, torque, inductance, and loss parameters of the motor. First, the reluctance network analysis (RNA) method is derived based on the SPM geometry. In order to consider the nonlinear properties of the core, the permeability is treated as variable. The magnetic permeability of each region of the core is derived by an iterative method. Then, the magnetic flux in the motor is calculated by solving the RNA model, and the parameters such as magnetic flux linkage, torque and iron loss of the motor are calculated subsequently. The inductance parameters is calculated by combining the frozen permeability method. The eddy current losses in the magnet are calculated by the locally refined RNA model and permanent-magnet electric network model. The performance parameters of the motor calculated by the proposed model agree well with the ones obtained from the finite element analysis.
