Internet of Things (IoT) Based BIOFLOC Technology

In traditional aquaculture, there remain several difficulties and challenges such as the imbalance of temperature, deficiency of oxygen and cost etc. resulting in making the fish farming process inefficient. Biofloc technology overcomes the difficulties in indoor fish culture with the help of IoT by making a suitable environment for fishes and making the culture system effective, efficient, and productive. An IoT based aquaculture model has been proposed, where different conditions of water in the culture medium are sensed by sensors. The system collects different water conditions, sends data to an associated mobile or web application via an intermediate coordinating device. Again, the imbalanced water condition is fixed via the mobile or web application with the help of the controlling device. The system can sense water temperature level and fixes it as per requirements. Changing of water in the culture medium is also possible in this system. The user can control the system's functionality via Wi-Fi access using the inbuilt Wi-Fi in NodeMCU. The NodeMCU, relay module, temperature sensor, oxygen and water pump and wireless communication protocol are the system's key components. The task is completed using open-source software and hardware with embedded devices.
