Colour Recognition Using CLAHE Algorithm

Recently, the development of assistive devices for blind people have been increased because of the need in the society. One crucial aspect of this technology is color identification. These assistive devices are increasing their way of living and help them become less dependent on others. One of the significant challenges faced by visually challenged people is color perception. The ability to distinguish colors depends on the environmental factors. In this research, the Image restoration, Gaussian filter, Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) algorithm for real- time color recognition is thoroughly studied. CLAHE is used to improve the visual contrast, which is useful during times when there are variations in lighting. The goal of the proposed method is to obtain the robust and accurate color identification in different environmental conditions. The proposed algorithm identifies the 10 colors of red, green, blue, cyan, yellow, pink, magenta, navy, beige and maroon with a precision of 94.6% and accuracy of 96.8%.
