Research on Signaling Attacks and Defenses in 5G Network

The 5G mobile communication system has long been an integral component of the new generation of national information infrastructure. While it brings convenience to society, it also poses numerous security challenges. Signaling attacks, as one of the more innovative forms of attack within the 5G system, have been infrequently subjected to in-depth analysis and summarization in the literature. This paper analyzes the security issues present in the 5G network architecture from the perspectives of the User Equipment (UE), Radio Access Network (RAN), and 5G Core (5GC). It provides a summary and categorization of identified signaling attacks, outlines countermeasures for signaling defenses, and discusses the challenges faced. Furthermore, the paper looks forward to the future of the relevant technologies to promote the research on signaling attacks and defenses in 5G network.
