An Efficient Error Correction Method for DMFBs with Node Redundancy Considering Node Levels

Recent research in biological sciences focuses on Digital Microfluidic Biochips (DMFBs), which are used for diluting sample and buffer droplets to generate droplets of desired concentrations. However, DMFBs face issues with unbalanced droplet division during splitting. An existing work transforms a given dilution graph to minimize the impact of errors caused by unbalanced droplet divisions, but large-scale division errors near the final target node can still lead to significant errors. To address this, this paper proposes duplicating nodes near the target node, and performing re-dilution, along with transforming the dilution graph to equalize node levels for more efficient error correction. Through 10,000 simulations, it is confirmed that the proposed method reduces the concentration error at the target node.
