Research on UWB High-Precision Positioning and Cross-Region Networking for Offshore Drilling Platforms

UWB is an extremely narrow pulse, and its time resolution can reach the nanosecond level. Therefore, its ranging accuracy can reach 10 cm. UWB can be used for short-range high-precision positioning, and its positioning accuracy can reach 10 cm, Due to the very narrow pulse of UWB, it has good anti-multipath interference ability and can be applied in areas with severe metal reflection. This article discusses the introduction of UWB into the personnel positioning of offshore drilling platforms to achieve high-precision personnel positioning in complex environments. In positioning applications, the communication distance of UWB is limited, usually only about 50 meters for the tag's communication and positioning. Therefore, to achieve large-scale accurate positioning, a new base station needs to be set up at intervals. However, when the tag switches from one area to another, due to the change of base stations, the tag needs to rejoin the network before it can perform ranging and calibration again. This paper proposes a working method for the positioning tag to quickly switch to the connected area and achieve network entry and positioning, and proposes a positioning solution algorithm based on the least squares method.
