Development and Application Examples of General-Purpose/Small Water Level Gauges

This study developed a compact water level gauge that can be used for general purposes. Consequently, examples of its application in various fields are reported. In addition, an example of building a site that allows users to check rainfall data obtained from existing rain gauges on the Internet was elucidated. Conventional water level gauges are often expensive because they emphasize high accuracy and robustness. This renders their installation at many observation points challenging. However, there is a certain need to be able to perform measurements over a certain period and at many locations. Thus, we developed a small inexpensive water level gauge to satisfy these demands. Thereafter, as the water level gauge was applied to various fields, it became a more general-purpose water level gauge owing to the addition of the requirements for those fields.First, we explained the water level gauge developed. Thereafter, the requirements in the applied field were explained and the application results were discussed. Finally, future challenges were elucidated.
