Comparing iOS and Android Anti-Virus Protection: A Survey

As technology advances, cybersecurity, which primarily focuses on researching ways to protect digital devices, will continue to increase in importance. One part of securing digital devices is anti-virus protection. This survey specifically answers the question - in mobile operating systems, how does anti-virus protection in Apple iOS compare to those implemented by Google Android? Sources were collected from JSTOR, Google Scholar, the ACM Digital Library, and IEEE Xplore. Sources that discussed Apple iOS and Google Android operating system security were accepted, while those that did not were rejected. This literature survey found that the Apple iOS operating system is acknowledged to be more secure than the Google Android operating system, which implies that Apple iOS has better anti-virus protection. However, researching Apple iOS and Google Android anti-virus protection is an area of future study because there currently need to be sources that directly compare Apple iOS anti-virus protection to Google Android anti-virus protection. Researching anti-virus protection is essential because technological advances will continue to increase the necessity of protection for a user's data.
