The First Results of Surgical Treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence in Obese Women

The safety and effectiveness of the use of a free synthetic loop was evaluated in 41 obese women. The average age of the patients was 61 (54–65) years, body mass index 39.1 (37.4–40.3) kg/m2. The patients underwent a loop plastic surgery of the urethra using a trans obturator method. The patients were examined in the following volumes: filling out questionnaires UDI-6, IIQ-7, ICIQ-SF, I-QOL, vaginal examination in mirrors, cough stress test, uroflowmetry, ultrasound of the bladder to determine the volume of residual urine, bacterial urine culture. During the follow-up, 6 (14.6%) patients had a positive cough stress test. A recurrence of the disease was observed in 4 (9.7 %) patients 1 month after surgery and in 2 (4.8 %) patients 3 months later. De novo urgency was noted in 4 (9.7%) patients, and lower urinary tract infection in 2 (4.8 %). The results of the questionnaires revealed an improvement in the quality of life and general well- being. U rodynamic examination revealed no signs of urinary retention and an increase in the amount of residual urine during the observation period.
