Internal Consumption Vehicle Speed Control with Rain Optimization Algorithm Based PID Controller

In this study, a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is designed in MATLAB/SIMULINK to facilitate vehicle cruise control (VCC) system, specifically regulating and maintaining the vehicle's speed at a predefined value. The parameter values of the controller are determined through the utilization of five different metaheuristic algorithms: Student Psychology Based Optimization (SPBO) algorithm, Sine Cosine Optimization (SCA) algorithm, Rain Optimization Algorithm (ROA), Gradient Based Optimization (GBO) algorithm, and Gray Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm. A comprehensive performance analysis of the devised system is provided. Furthermore, to assess the robustness of the proposed controller, a sinusoidal noise-based disturbance effect is incorporated into the mathematical model of the vehicle.
