Operational Risk Assessment of New Power System with Wind Power Integration Considering Inertia Response

Under energy conservation, emission reduction and green sustainable development, massive renewable energy is linked to the power grid, which reduces the system inertia level. Furthermore, the inertial support capacity is weakened, leading to severe challenges in system stability. A new power system operation risk assessment method with wind power access considering inertia response is proposed to evaluate the operation risk of a new power system. Firstly, the wind power output uncertainty model is selected, choosing the non-temporal Monte Carlo method to sample the wind power output. Secondly, combined with the characteristics of the power system inertia response and the fault propagation process, a novel operational risk assessment method for power systems with wind power access considering inertia response is established while considering the risk indicators of voltage overrun severity, line overload severity and loss load severity, the initial frequency change severity index is added, and the weights of each index are calculated by the hierarchical analysis method. Finally, using the IEEE 39 system as a study, the risk assessment of the new power system with and without virtual inertia effects with wind power access is carried out respectively, and compared with the assessment value of the power system without wind power access, the model's feasibility is verified.
