Mathematical Modeling of IPMC Sensor

The study is devoted to the development of an easily modifiable and visual mathematical model of a sensor based on ionic polymer-metal composites (IPMCs), requiring a small number of empirically found coefficients. The physics of the IPMC sensor operation and the provisions justifying the creation of a model of the processes inside the polymer ion-exchange membrane are reviewed. The developed model allows considering the frequency dependence of the IPMC sensor output signal on external mechanical action, predicts the signal amplitude under various external impacts, describes the stabilization time of the output voltage at a constant pressure on the working body. In order to reduce the technical requirements for the computer, the original mathematical model was simplified, replacing the calculation of hydrodynamics with an empirical coefficient, but a full implementation of the model is planned in the future.
