Design and Implementation of 8K Display Chip Technology Platform

Currently, 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) televisions have become mainstream, while 8K UHD display technology which represents the future of television, is rapidly developing. To carry out underlying technological innovation of 8K UHD display and develop differentiated high-end 8K display products, this paper presents the design and implementation of an 8K display chip technology platform. This platform integrates multiple mainstream 8K high-speed video interfaces and two sets of DDR4 high-speed memory, featuring 8K@60Hz signal processing capability. It also supports 8K@120Hz signal processing through dual-platform homogeneous computing technology. Therefore, this platform can simultaneously meet the R&D requirements for 8K@60Hz and 8K@120Hz display technologies, which has great significance for the innovation of underlying technologies in 8K UHD displays. Utilizing this platform, we designed a 230,400 partition Mini-LED backlight LCD display system, achieving a peak brightness of 5,420 nits and exceptional visual fidelity, thereby establishing a robust foundation for realistic HDR effects.
