Comparison of Silver and Gold Based Plasmonic Square Ring Resonator with MIM Waveguide

In this comparative analysis of silver and gold based plasmonic square ring resonator with MIM waveguide filled with analyte from 1 to 1.3. The various sensing parameters such as sensitivity, FOM and Q factor are compared for both gold and silver based substrate. The sensor shows the highest sensitivity 440 nm/RIU with silver and 396 nm/ RIU with gold. Besides this, the highest value of FOM is 31.426 with gold and 30 with silver. The maximum Q-factor is 28.65 with silver as well as 26.428 with gold. The analysis shows silver is dominating over gold for refractive index based sensor including chemical and biological sensing applications because of its reduced cost, enhance sensitivity, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
