Revenue Estimation for Vehicle-to-Grid with Household Behind-the-Meter Solar and Storage

As electric vehicles (EVs) become increasingly prevalent, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), as a flexible means of interaction between EVs and the power grid, has attracted considerable attention, yet its commercial prospects remain unclear. In this paper, a V2G revenue estimation method is proposed for households with behind-the-meter solar and storage. Firstly, a mathematical model consists of solar, storage, and EVs is established, with a rolling optimization method is proposed to solve the mathematical model. Secondly, typical EV usage scenarios in household areas are analyzed based on diverse travel demand. Finally, through empirical case studies, the efficacy and viability of the proposed method are validated. The research findings suggest that V2G holds potential economic benefits within household areas, thereby offering new insights into future vehicle grid interaction and household energy management.
