Worst-Case Voltage Droop Using Peak Distortion Analysis

This paper introduces a method for calculating the worst-case voltage droops experienced by a power distribution network. Through peak distortion analysis, each port in a multiport model is stimulated to produce patterns that will result in a large voltage swing at a selected observation point. This approach enables power integrity engineers to anticipate worst-case scenarios at the beginning of the design process and initiate the optimization of power delivery. The methodology is demonstrated using a real system as an example.
