Analysis of Live Work Accidents In Overhead Power Lines And Other Electrical Systems Between 2010-2022

This study included 1254 electric live work accidents reported in OSHA between 2010-2022 in the US that account for 1399 workers involved. From that population, 817 people were injured and 582 workers died (41.6% mortality). 851 incidents were identified as electric utility related. From that population within electric utility, 941 workers were involved in the accidents to which 536 were injured and 405 died (43% mortality). The data is limited to OSHA recordables which include only events were three or more workers were present at the events, for companies with more than 10 workers, so the total numbers can be higher. This work focuses on transmission overhead line (OHL) statistics that can be used for building a program for live work.
