A Novel Torque Ripple Suppression Method for Switched Reluctance Machine Based on Piecewise Linear Flux-Linkage Profile

Serious torque ripple restricts the application advantage of the switched reluctance machine (SRM). Moreover, the nonlinear characteristics of SRM lead to the complexity of torque control. A torque ripple suppression method based on flux-linkage control is proposed in this Letter. We modeled a novel piecewise linear flux-linkage profile to achieve indirect torque control. The ant lion optimizer algorithm is adopted to optimize the flux-linkage change rate to achieve minimum torque ripple. The optimal flux-linkage profile is then applied to model predictive control to control the phase flux-linkage. This method avoids multistep torque prediction. It effectively reduces the calculation effort and improves the reliability of predictive control. The experimental results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.
