Improving Electric Network Frequency Estimation Through Combined ENF Enhancement and ROOT MUSIC Algorithm

Electric Network Frequency (ENF) estimation is a critical component in various applications, including forensic audio analysis and synchronization of multimedia recordings. Previous research has primarily focused on enhancing identification accuracy from noisy ENF signals, with noise posing a challenge to accurate frequency peak detection. Rather than solely addressing noise reduction, this paper proposes an approach by integrating ENF enhancement techniques with the ROOT-MUSIC algorithm. The established ENF enhancement methods are combined with the high-resolution ROOT-MUSIC algorithm to enhance frequency estimation accuracy. This study showcases the effectiveness of this integration, demonstrating improved accuracy in ENF frequency estimation compared to existing methods. Experimental results on real-world data substantiate the benefits of this combined approach. The proposed technique not only contributes to accurate ENF estimation but also has potential applications in various domains where precise frequency analysis is crucial.
