Lightning Impulse Breakdown Voltage of Natural Ester Oil-Based Nanofluids with Fe2O3 Nanoparticles

This study presents an experimental investigation of the positive lightning impulse dielectric strength of natural ester oil-based nanofluids with Fe2O3 nanoparticles. The effects of the concentration of the latter upon the distribution of the breakdown voltage of the nanofluid are quantified. Experiments were performed following the IEC 60897 procedure. The integration of nanoparticles enhances the impulse withstand voltage of the liquid matrix for iron oxide nanoparticle concentrations up to 0.5% weight/weight.
