IoT-Based Smart Solution for Biogas Plant Operation

Incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) technology into biogas plant operations represents a new era of achieving optimized efficiency and sustainability in resource utilization. Decision-making concerning the selection of feedstock to be utilized in the biogas digester can be accurately obtained by the application of this advanced technology. Through real-time data collection and processing, informed decisions about the type and volume of feedstock can be obtained. Biogas plants can fine-tune their operations for optimal gas production while ensuring responsible resource management by monitoring different anaerobic digestion parameters including feedstock quality, moisture levels, and chemical composition of the substrate. This study explores the application of IoT in transforming the anaerobic digestion process and biogas plant operation in two important areas; a) feedstock selection; b) process control and monitoring system. The application of the Internet of things technology in a biogas plant operation improves sustainability, efficiency, and optimized output in form of enhanced biogas production with controlled operation backed by data driven decision making.
