The Significance of Knowledge Management in Facilitating Digital Transformation of Industries: A Literature Review

The purpose of this paper is to review the essential value of knowledge management (KM) in supporting industry's shift towards the digital transformation era. The major areas covered are the concepts and the evolution of KM, as well as challenges in implementing both KM and digital transformation. It underscores two very important points: that strong KM strategies can boost work productivity while also fostering a positive work environment that supports innovation. The latter part indicates that challenges have to be dealt with in different ways because of how closely related these two processes are, and it emphasizes how success for one lead to success for the other. The paper suggests focusing efforts on improving KM mechanisms within digitally oriented organizations, which will lead to more effective continuous improvement efforts aiming at satisfying broader industry needs due to their intertwined nature.
