Electric Diagram for the Study of Series Electric Arcs Fault

Electric arc faults in series with the load in a single-phase alternating current circuit are difficult to detect due to the decrease in the effective value of the current when they occur. At the same time, they are extremely dangerous because of the possibility of producing fires caused by an electrical fault. Electric arc detection devices are the only electrical protection devices able to detect and interrupt the supply of circuits when this type of fault occurs. To study the operation of these protective devices, a laboratory electric diagram is proposed, through which two types of electric arc faults are simulated. The electrical parameters measured are the discharge voltage, the electric current through the arc and the derivative of the noise produced by the electric arc.
