Dynamic Solar Panel Array Reconfiguration System

This paper presents the development and simulation of a dynamic switching system for solar panel arrays, designed to optimize power output under partial shading conditions. The system is based on mathematical models of solar panels and cloud cover dynamics, enabling accurate emulation of real-world scenarios. Through simulation in Matlab, the performance of the switched array was evaluated, revealing significant increases in output power. For an array with a nominal power of 800 W, the dynamic switching system achieved a power gain of 50.669 W at certain points, corresponding to a 6.33% increase in output power. Moreover, over the entire operational time frame, the total increase in output power amounted to 568,113 W, representing a 1.5% increase compared to the power of the array without switching. The potential application of this switching system to arrays with a larger number of panels, coupled with the utilization of other switching schemes, holds promise for further enhancing output power. This research provides valuable insights into optimizing the efficiency and performance of solar panel arrays in real-world conditions.
