Sensitivity-enhanced FBG Sensors for Human Body Temperature Monitoring

In order to study the change patterns of human body surface temperature under different movement conditions, which provides data reference for the intelligent development of rehabilitation robots, this paper designs a sensitized encapsulation structure of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) temperature sensor for body temperature measurement. This paper introduces the theory of FBG temperature sensing and proposes a sensitized structure using silica gel to encapsulate and copper shell to cover up, resulting in a sensor whose temperature sensitivity coefficient is increased to 119.3 pm/°C and temperature resolution reaches 0.008°C. Subsequently, the sensor was utilized on the human body to measure the change in body temperature in the process of " Sitting - Slow Walking - Sitting". It is found that the sensors can detect the change patterns of body temperature, which proves the feasibility of the sensor for body temperature monitoring.
