Proposal and Implementation on Smartphone of a PUF Using Accelerometers and Gyroscopes

In this study, we introduce a novel Physically Unclonable Function (PUF) utilizing signals from accelerometers and gyroscopes in various smartphones. The PUF is proposed, implemented, and analyzed, showing an average Intra-Hamming Distance (Intra-HD) of 12.69%, an average Inter-HD of 45.37%, and a low Equal Error Rate $E E R=9.42 \cdot 10^{-5}$ with 108-bit responses. These results highlight the viability of the proposed solution for smartphone authentication, with a specific mobile application developed that incorporates the proposal which makes the PUF solution already integrated within an authentication system.
