As we have seen in previous chapters, artificial intelligence (AI) is now part of our daily life. AI is often thought of as a technology that helps us make decisions, that being for recognizing a face and establishing if it matches the person on a passport picture or deciding if we are worth a loan or not. Yet, AI is also critically important in the development of another cutting-edge technology often associated with science fiction: brain-computer interfaces (BCIs).
