Abstract:
Telemedicine, fuelled by advances in digital technology and increased connectivity, has ushered in an era of remote patient care, diagnosis, and monitoring. This essay emphasizes the critical value of telemedicine in supporting efficient, patient-centred clinical trials, removing geographic barriers, and enhancing patient recruitment and retention. It also examines how telemedicine enhances the collection of real-time, patient-generated data, assisting in the development of more comprehensive and representative datasets. Utilizing telemedicine and online platforms, the use of remote clinical trials in research has become cutting edge. The essay evaluates the benefits and challenges of running clinical trials remotely, emphasizing their potential to democratize clinical research by enhancing participant diversity and reducing the load on patients. Additionally, it looks at the ethical difficulties, data security issues, and legal concerns connected to distant clinical trials.
