Updated Impedance Power Flow

Power flow calculation is crucial in the field of electrical power systems for various applications, including security assessments in planning and operation. Instead of employing Newton-Raphson and Fast Decoupled methods, this paper proposes an interactive solution method that aims to have a larger region of convergence. This novel approach leverages the intersection points between the PV curve and a constant impedance load curve, which is updated over iterations to ensure the desired load power, to formulate a fixed-point iteration function. Extensive numerical results verify that the new method has better convergence properties compared to the traditional Newton-Raphson and Fast Decoupled methods. The proposed method shares some similarities with the conventional Gauss-Seidel method, while it is illustrated that the difference offers a better convergence property by the proposed method under some specific conditions.
