Plasmonic-Mode Driven Graphene Metasurface Perfect Absorber with Wide Frequency Agility

This work presents a graphene-based tunable metasurface absorber (TMSA) with an absorption efficiency of 99.96% at 1.65 THz. The DC biasing of graphene sheets helps to achieve frequency tunability from 1.2 to 2.65 THz. The proposed TMSA is compact and ultra-thin, having a periodicity and thickness of $\frac{{{\lambda _0}}}{{22.73}}$ and $\frac{{{\lambda _0}}}{{90.9}}$, respectively, where λ0 is calculated at 1.65 THz. An acceptable A(f) response has been achieved for the variation in polarization (ϕ) and incidence (θ) angle. These features enable the deployment of the TMSA for radar cross-section (RCS) reduction and stealth/defense applications in the THz regime.
