An Innovative Approach: Hybrid Firefly Algorithm for Optimal Feature Selection

In the past years, the primary challenge was creating technologies which are able to store huge amounts of data. Today, the focus has shifted towards effectively yoking this abundant data and extracting valuable information. This includes the strategic usage of feature subsets within datasets, rather than relying on the complete feature set. We have proposed a novel feature selection algorithm which is the modified form of the foundational firefly algorithm. We have used simulated dataset for performing experiments. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed feature selection algorithm outperforms state-of-art techniques.
