A Speed Loop Control Strategy for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors Based on Reduced-Dimensional EMPC

EMPC, with its fast dynamic response and strong robustness, is highly suitable for the outer loop control of servo systems. However, due to the lengthy execution time and high memory consumption of the algorithm, EMPC is only suitable for solving small-scale problems. Additionally, its dependency on parameters limits its application under complex operating conditions. To address these issues, this paper proposes a reduced-dimensional EMPC control strategy for the speed loop of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM). By reconstructing the speed loop model, the algorithm’s dimensionality is reduced to only 2, significantly decreasing the algorithm’s complexity. The algorithm’s reliance on parameters is significantly decreased by using an Extended State Observer (ESO) to observe speed disturbances. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the improved algorithm possesses strong disturbance rejection capability and robustness, while maintaining low algorithmic complexity.
